Elaine Marguerite Strom, age 90, of Escanaba, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2006.
Elaine was born in Escanaba, on August 17, 1915. Her parents were George and Alma Brown. Elaine graduated from Escanaba High School in 1933. She attended the University of Michigan.
In 1939 she married Attorney Wheaton L. Strom, of Escanaba.
Through her entire life, Elaine was known as a kind and wonderful person who was very attached to her family, her family’s pets, and her community. Elaine had many hobbies, including needlework, bird watching, boating, camping, fishing, and gardening. Elaine also was a devoted reader, and appreciated art and theatre. In addition, Elaine was a bookkeeper for her husband’s law firm, a babysitter for numerous families, and a volunteer with the Delta County Animal Shelter and Webster and Franklin Elementary Schools.
Elaine and Wheaton had four children, Karen Lindquist, twin sons, Peter and Paul, and Susan Storm-Arnold.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Dr. Gerald Brown, of Anamosa, Iowa.
Elaine is survived by: her four children; her daughter-in-law, Laura Strom; her sons-in-law, Kenneth Arnold and Charles Lindquist; a dear friend of her son Paul, Lisa McNally Wickstrom; and her six grandsons, David, Patrick, Philip, Eric, Lewis, and Nicholas.
At Elaine’s request, cremation has taken place. Elaine also requested that no funeral or memorial service occur. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Delta Area Animal Society or the Friends of the Escanaba Public Library.
Elaine’s family will have an open house from 3 to 7 P.M. on Monday, June 12, at 317 S. 6th Street, Escanaba. Friends who would like to visit are invited to attend.
