John S. Milkovich, age 51, of 7 South 3rd Street, Gladstone, MI died Saturday evening July 1, 2006 at
home following a three year illness with ALS.

John was born November 23, 1954 in Escanaba the son of George and Florence (O’Donnell) Milkovich Sr. He was raised in Escanaba and attended St. Joseph and Holy Name Schools and he was a graduate of the Escanaba High School. Following graduation he attended college and later he was a cook at Cheer’s, the Stonehouse and the Buck Inn. He later worked for the I.S.D. Learning Center in Escanaba for 5 years until his illness.

John was a member of St. Anne’s Church in Escanaba and his hobbies included cooking, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Brenda (Harris) who he married on June 19, 1999, survivors include:

1 Son: Dean (Jacci) Heslip of Escanaba

1 Daughter: Angela Wandahsega of Gladstone

2 Brothers: George (Sharon) Milkovich of Gladstone and Thomas Milkovich of Lindon, MI

2 Sisters: June (Gordon) Johnson of Marquette, MI and Rita (Richard) Wurth of Escanaba

6 Grandchildren: Trevor, Travis, Allyson and Lyndzie Heslip, and Sorren and Meaghan Wandahsega.

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

John’s family will receive friends on Wednesday July 5, 2006 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial Services celebrating the life John S. Milkovich will follow at 6:00 P.M. at the St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba with Rev. Fr. Michael Steber officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. Memorial contributions in memory of John may be directed to the ALS Association, envelopes will be available at the Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes.
