Mary Carron

Mary C. Carron, age 92, of 4890 Hwy 2 & 41; Escanaba, died Thursday October 26th, 2006 at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers where she was a patient since May of 2004.

Mary was born May 19th, 1914 in Norway, Michigan, the daughter of Phil Janssen and the former Joea Halterman, was raised in Norway and attended Norway School System. She married Henry E. Carron in 1935 in Vulcan, Michigan and shortly thereafter they relocated to Hermansville, Michigan where they resided for 15 years. They subsequently moved to Escanaba where she resided since. Her husband, Henry, preceded her in death in December of 1970.

Mary always enjoyed sewing and crocheting and she was employed as professional seamstress for “Nu-Way Cleaners” in Escanaba for a number of years. In addition, she made porcelain dolls in her leisure. Together with her husband, she had a love of flower gardening and roses and dahlias where her particular specialty. She regularly and lovingly brought bouquets of flowers to her church, the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Escanaba, which she was a member for many years. Mary was also a member of the “Dorcas Society” which is a charitable organization within the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Mary Carron’s survivors include:

3 Daughters- Barbara (Harold) Pourpore of Spaulding, MI; Ruth-Dani Macy of St. Louis, MO; Betty (Bill) Sutherland of Hermansville, MI

6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Henry, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Romashko, in 1993, and by two brothers, Louis and Albert Janssen.

The family of Mary C. Carron will receive friends on Sunday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 3:00 p.m. EST to 6:00 p.m. EST. Services celebrating  Mary’s life will follow on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. EST at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Pastor Brandon Porter of the Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Luncheon will follow services at the Seventh Day Adventist Fellowship Hall, located at 210 South Lincoln Road in Escanaba. Burial will be in the Norway Cemetery. The Skradski- Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Carron family.
