Victoria Sliva

Died November 12, 2006


Victoria Sliva, age 94, of 1524 North 16th Street, Escanaba, MI died Sunday afternoon November 12, 2006 at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba.

Victoria was born March 31, 1912 in Sault Ste Marie, MI the daughter of Adam and Dorothy Zawacky. She was raised in the Sault until the age of 2 when her family moved Perronville and she attended the Perronville Public Schools. Victoria was united in marriage to Frank Sliva in 1928 and they made their home in the Ford River/Hyde area. They later moved to Escanaba to their present location.

Victoria had worked at the Ely’s Potato Chip Factory and also was a cook for the House of Ludington and Spar’s Restaurant. Victoria loved baking, cooking, gardening and fishing. She treasured spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include;

2 Sons: Frank Sliva of Cornell; Walter (Celeste) Sliva of Soo Hill

3 Daughters: Agnes (James Gerou) LaVigne of Escanaba; Frances (Henry) Wylie of Chula Vista, CA; Estelle (Ronald) Henderson of Escanaba, MI

14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren

Numerous nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by:

Husband: Frank on August 1, 1971

3 Brothers: Henry, Charles and William

3 Sisters: Wanda, Sophia and Casimire

Private visitation and services will be held on Saturday at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba with Rev. Peter Andersen of Christ the King Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.
