Thomas Eugene Barton, age 49, of Greenwood Drive in Escanaba, formerly of Ironton, Ohio passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
 
Tom was born May 26, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland to Alan and Betty (Gould) Shavrick. He attended and graduated from North Western High School in Ashland, Ohio and later received an Associate Degree from Muskingham Technical College in Nelsonville, Ohio.   Tom’s 25 year marriage to Debra Knipp began on August 22, 1981 in Pedro , Ohio . He worked for the U.S. Forest Service for approximately 29 years in Ohio , Maine and Michigan , working and residing in Escanaba , Michigan sine 1997. He was in Law Enforcement for 17 of those years. Tom was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Escanaba and enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, golfing and gardening. He most enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Fred C. Knipp.
 
Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 28 at 11:00 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Escanaba with Rev. James Holmberg officiating. Tom’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 27 from 4:00 to 8:00 at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba. Burial will take place Saturday, December 30 at 1:00 at the Warneke Cemetery in Decatur Township , Ohio . Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton, Ohio is assisting the family with Graveside Services.
