Nancy L. Darion, age 72, of 523 Michigan Avenue, Gladstone, died Tuesday morning December 26, 2006 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

Nancy was born February 5, 1934, in Gladstone, the daughter of Joseph and Evelyn (Swanson) Darion. She was raised in Gladstone and attended and graduated from the Escanaba High School in 1954. Following high school and throughout the majority of her life, Nancy was self employed as a domestic worker in the Gladstone and Escanaba communities. Nancy’s hobbies included sewing, quilting and taking care of her pet parakeets. Nancy was very active in the Escanaba Deaf Club, attending various meetings and the yearly Escanaba Deaf Club picnic. In her younger years, Nancy enjoyed artwork. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

1 Brother: Allan (Mary) Darion of Gladstone, MI

1 Sister: Phyllis Boucher of Escanaba, MI

Also surviving is Nancy’s wonderful niece, Mary Beth Darion, who assisted in caring for Nancy throughout her later years. In addition, Nancy is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Evelyn, brother, Glenn and sister Eleanor.

Family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Nancy L. Darion will follow visitation, at 5:00PM, with Pastor Mary Laub officiating. Luncheon will follow funeral services at the Memorial United Methodist Church located in Gladstone. Committal services will be conducted on Wednesday January 3, 2007, at 1:00PM, at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. Memorial contributions in Nancy’s name may be directed to the Escanaba Deaf Club 1218 Wisconsin Avenue, Gladstone or to Hope Lodge, Attn: Kathy Brecke, 611 West Doege Street Marshfield, WI 54449. The Skradski Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Darion family with arrangements.
