James Maxemovich
Resided in Escanaba, MI
Died December 23, 2006

James R. “Jimmy” Maxemovich, age 31, of Bay Street in Escanaba and former Rock resident died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 23rd, 2006 at home of an apparent heart attack.

On March 3rd, 1975, God blessed his family with a gift, James Russell Maxemovich.
Born in Marquette, he grew up in Rock and graduated from Mid-Peninsula High School in 1993 and later from Lake Superior State University in 2000 with a BA Degree in “Business Management.”

James was employed at “Nano Seconds” in Escanaba while attending school and while at his job, he was mentored by the Carne family to the world of business. Since graduation from LSSU, he has been employed by “Island Resort and Casino” managing and operating the “Island Oasis”. James had been involved with Native American Nations “Big Brothers” and youth mentoring programs. He also helped organize and operate the summer youth work program at the “Oasis”.

James best times were spent with his family and they were first and foremost in his life.

Jim loved and admired his big brother, Douglas, and he loved and sheltered his little brother, Bradley. In their adult years, the 3 brothers loved, admired, and sheltered each other. Jim cherished the times he spent with his brothers, especially at camp, “Iron Rock” in Iron River.

Jim was a thoughtful, loving, caring, and gentle man and a son to his parents that they were proud to call “son”. He is going to be so sadly missed, but he left his family with so many warm and wonderful memories, including the memory of his smile and how it warmed his mom’s and dad’s heart, and the memory of his laughter and how it filled the room.

His mother wrote: “such a precious baby, such a loving child, such a wonderful man, and such a gift from God”.
