Stephen Wilmore Berglund, age 66, of 8455 U.S. 2, Rapid River, MI died Tuesday January 2, 2007 at his residence in Rapid River.
Stephen was born June 23, 1940 in Escanaba, MI the son of Wilmore and Cecelia (Jacobs) Berglund. Steve was raised in Escanaba where he was a 1957 graduate of the Escanaba High School. He continued his education at Northern Michigan University for 3 years where he was pursuing his degree in Business Administration. Steve served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1965 where he was stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. Upon his honorable discharge in 1965 he returned to Escanaba where he had worked for the Harnischfeger Corporation and the Mead Paper Company. Steve had resided in Clintonville, WI for over 25 years where he was the Director of Manufacturing for the Marion Manufacturing Corporation. He also worked as an EMT for the Marion, Salem and Clintonville Ambulance Services. Steve returned to Delta County in the fall of 2003 where he was employed by the Anderson Funeral Home.
Steve was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba and his hobbies included fishing, spending time on the water and riding his Harley motorcycle.

1 granddaughter;
Sister: Mary (Harold “Spike”) O’Connell of Gladstone
Step mother: Lucy “Nonnie” Pearce of Coral Springs, FL
Aunt: Ruth Beck of Escanaba
2 nephews: Michael (Rhonda Jasmine) O’Connell of Menasha, WI and Patrick O’Connell of Appleton, WI
2 nieces: Cindy (Bruce) Collins of Gladstone and
Cheryl (Stephen) Corden of Rapid River
Special dog pal and companion, Harley
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his great nephew, Jerry Collins.
Steve’s family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 5:45 P.M. at the Central United Methodist Church in Escanaba. Gladstone American Legion Walter W. Cole Post #71 military rites will follow at 5:45 P.M. Funeral services celebrating the life of Stephen W. Berglund will follow at 6:00 P.M. at the Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Harmon officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.
