Anna M. Skradski, age 85, of 1419 North 18th Street; Escanaba died Monday afternoon, January, 22nd, 2007 at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba where she was a patient for the previous4 days.
Anna was born in Ralph, Michigan the daughter of Moses and Viola (Couillard) LaCarte on April 12th, 1921 and was raised in the Flat Rock-Cornell areas but has resided in Escanaba much of her life. In her early working years, she was employed at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. Anna married Joseph J. “Buddy” Skradski and together her husband and family operated the Skradski Bar and Hotel in Escanaba until “Buddy” retired in 1979. “Buddy” passed away November 14th, 1987. Her family, however, best remembers her as mother and homemaker for her family.
Anna Skradski was member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Escanaba and she enjoyed baking, cooking, and going “out to eat” in local restaurants. Additionally, her grandchildren and their affairs were of prime importance to her. Also in Anna’s leisure in later years, the casino was a fascination for her.

2 Sons- William Skradski of Escanaba; James (Cindy) Skradski of Escanaba
2 Daughters- Darlene (Fred) Weissert of Escanaba; Sherrie Skradski of Escanaba
1 Brother-Ernest LaCarte of Escanaba
3 Sisters- Millie (George) Young of Gladstone; Lina Bittner of California; Mae Delvaux of Rapid River
8 Grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Joseph “Buddy” Skradski,
she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Delvaux, and by a sister, Eva Gabrielson, and also by 3 brothers; Edward, Albert, and Lawrence LaCarte.
The family of Anna M. Skradski will receive friends on Thursday at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Escanaba with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier and Rev. Fr. Emmitt Norden officiating. Luncheon will follow services at the church parish hall. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery; Escanaba.
