Betty L. Mosier, age 72, of 6244 32nd Road; Rapid River (Baldwin Twp.) died Thursday, February 15th, 2007, at home surrounded by family and friends.
Betty was born June10th, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Kavis) Zierk and was raised in the Chicago area. On July 31st, 1954, Betty married John C. Mosier in Chicago. While living in Illinois, she was employed as a private secretary at “Northern Trust” in Chicago for a number of years and later worked for “Sears & Roebuck” in Park Forest.
In 1961, she and her husband, John, permanently relocated to their vacation home in the Perkins area where they resided since. Together with her husband, they owned and operated “Warner Candy Co.” for many years which served a wide territory in the Upper Peninsula.
Betty enjoyed being active and served as secretary-treasurer for the Perkins American Legion Auxiliary Post #540 for an extended period of time and she was an involved member of the Perkins Lions Club. Additionally, Betty was a member of the Perkins Senior Citizen Satellite Center, and the Rock Area Senior Citizen Center. Also, she was of the Lutheran faith and attended the Bethany Lutheran Church in Perkins.
Betty is remembered as a fun-loving individual with a good sense of humor, and as a person who was willing to assist anyone who asked.

Brothers-in-law- Melvin (Joanne) Gustafson of Perkins; Leonard (Maggie) Gustafson of Osier
And numerous nieces and nephews.
Among the survivors is Judy Gaudette, who was a wonderful and close friend to Betty and Betty considered her as “family” as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Elizabeth Zierk.
Visitation will be held on Monday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services celebrating Betty Mosier’s life will follow on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Devon Barrix of the Bethany Lutheran Church officiating. Luncheon will follow services at the Perkins Lions Club.
