George Becker, age 94, of 10177 Bay Shore Drive; Rapid River (Masonville Twp.) and former Garth Point area resident, died Monday, March 26th, 2007 at Marquette General Hospital following a very brief illness.

George was born in Ohio and was a resident of the Detroit area for many years before relocating to Delta County in 1969 with his wife, Phyllis. She preceded him in death in 1983. During his working years, he was employed on the Great Lakes and later by the City of Detroit.

George Becker’s survivors include:

1 Son- Donald (Pat) Becker of Garden City, MI

2 Grandchildren- Michele Davis, and Julie Wood

7 Great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and nieces and nephews.

Many close friends and other extended family members are also included among George’s survivors.         

In addition to his parents, his wife, and siblings, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Becker.

The family of George Becker will receive friends on Thursday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Services celebrating his life will follow on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie West officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Escanaba. A light luncheon will follow services. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Becker family.
