Ila Dahlgren

Died March 2, 2007


Ila Faye “Ma” Dahlgren, age 72, of 6968 US Hwy 2 & 41 and M-35; Gladstone (Bay View Location), passed away on Friday evening, March 2nd, 2007, surrounded by her family at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba where she was a patient since January 19th.

Ila was born November 20th, 1934 in Barr Slope, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William P. and Adeline Sarah (Postlewaite) Lambing and lived with her family in a number of locations near the Barr Slope area. At age 19, she moved to the State of Maine where she met her husband, Thure W. Dahlgren, who she called “a man in a uniform with dreamy blue eyes.” They married February 23rd, 1954 in Clymer, Pennsylvania and subsequently relocated to Delta County to the Bay View Location where they resided since.

Ila was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Escanaba where she had been a Sunday school teacher, taught “Bible Study”, read Scripture readings during services, and where she served as a “Luther League Advisor”. Additionally, she was a member of the Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary August Mattson Post #71 and was a Past Auxiliary President. Further more, she was also a member of the veterans organization, 8et 40 and the TOPS group in which Ila was proud to be associated with.

In her leisure, Ila enjoyed crocheting, baking bread, going to camp with Thure, traveling, and shopping. Bird-watching, especially cardinals, was a relaxing past-time for her. The Christmas season, in particular, was always known to be an exceptionally fond period for her and Christmas trees were here favorite decoration to admire and decorate.

Her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, was of the most important aspect of her life and she will be sadly missed by all of them.

2 Sons- Arnold (Kim) Dahlgren of Rapid River, MI; John Dahlgren of Sheboygan Falls, WI

4 Daughters- Paula (Steve) Trudell of Oshkosh, WI; Kristina Deiter of Soo Hill, MI; Sandra (James) Dufresne of Gladstone; Carol (Alan) Novak of Rapid River, MI

4 Brothers-William (Meredeth) Lambing of PA; Charles (Louella) Lambing of PA; Wayne (Priscella) Lambing of PA; Dennis (Linda) Lambing of PA
 
2 Sisters-Bethia St.Clair of PA; Pauline Schurr of PA

Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, granddaughter, great-grandchild, and by a son-in-law.

The family of Ila Faye Dahlgren will receive friends on Tuesday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 3:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. Services celebrating her life will follow at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Christ the King Church in Escanaba with Rev. Peter Andersen officiating. Following services, luncheon will be served in the Christ the King Fellowship Hall. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Dahlgren family.
