Dayton Dahn

Died March 19, 2007


Dayton G. “Pa” Dahn, age 74, of 5843 25th Road, Brampton, MI died Monday morning March 19, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness. 

Dayton was born October 7, 1932 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba the son of Otto and Lillie (Johnson) Dahn.  He was raised on the family farm in Brampton and graduated from the Escanaba High School, class of 1951.  Following graduation he had worked for the Rapid River Creamery and the Gladstone Golf Course before working for Independent Roofing for numerous years, retiring in 1989.

Dayton was very devoted to his children and grandchildren and always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  Maintaining the family farm was something that he treasured and took great pride in.  Dayton loved the outdoors, especially time spent in the woods hunting deer, turkey and partridge.  He always looked forward to a game of cards and his favorite card game was Canasta.  He will be missed by his family and friends and his grandchildren will miss spending time watching Pro-Wrestling with him on the television.

Special friend and mother to his children: Barbara Dahn of Gladstone

1 son: Gregory (Molly) Dahn of Brampton

4 daughters: Jody (Tom) Bentzler of DePere, WI, Shelly Monroe of Gladstone, Joanna Nebel of Gladstone and Susan (Terry) Berg of Gladstone

8 grandchildren:  Christopher, Nicole, Mitch, Ashley, Heather, Chad, Lillie and Dylan.

5 ½ great grandchildren

2 special extended sons: Jasen Dahn and Joseph Nebel

3 brothers: Bill (Doris) Dahn of Gladstone, Garland Dahn of Gladstone and Courtney (Margaret) Dahn of Felch

2 sisters: Muriel Bruntjens of Gladstone and Ramona Neurohr of Gladstone

Countless family and friends

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 sister, Tina Dahn and 1 brother, Vernon C. Dahn and his wife Marie.

Dayton’s family will hold a memorial visitation with coffee and doughnuts on Saturday May 19, 2007 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon on the family farm in Brampton. The visitation and coffee hour will end with a closing prayer. 

The Dahn family would like to give special thanks to all the caregivers, Pa loved you all.
