Edward C. Lynch, age 83, of 6424 North 5th Street, Wells, died at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday March 25, 2007.
Ed was born October 1, 1923, in Rapid River, the son of Chester and Alice (Dumas) Lynch.
He was raised in Gladstone and attended the All Saints Catholic Schools until the eighth grade before continuing his education and graduating from the Gladstone Area Public High School. Following high school, Ed enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the WWII era until his honorable discharge on January 26, 1946. On May 17, 1947, Ed was joined in marriage to the former Caroline Hurkmans at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Escanaba and together the couple eventually made their home and raised their family at their current residence in Wells. Ed and Caroline have resided in Wells for the past fifty six years and have enjoyed sixty wonderful years of marriage together. Throughout the years, Ed was employed for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and retired in 1980 after thirty five years of employment. Ed was a member of the St. Anthony Church in Wells and the local Escanaba AmVets. He volunteered at the Community Action Agency for over 20 years and enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheeling, hunting, spending time with his family and grandchildren, going to camp and in his earlier years, fishing. He will be deeply missed.

2 Brothers: Francis (Bernice) Lynch of Montello, WI; Patrick (Jackie) Lynch of Mountain Home, Arkansas
8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren
Also listed among the surviving family are many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Alice, sister, Dorothy Spaulding and brothers, James, Jack and Daniel Lynch.
The Lynch family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00PM to 5:30PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Edward C. Lynch will follow visitation, at 6:00PM, at the St. Anthony Church in Wells with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier and Rev. Fr. Gilbert Neurohr officiating. Military rites honoring Ed’s service to his country will be conducted on Friday, at 11:00AM, by the Delta County Veteran’s Council followed by committal rites at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. Contribution in Ed’s name may be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.
