Mercedes Daigneault Peterson, age 86, of Escanaba passed away Friday evening, March 9, 2007 at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba where she was a resident. She was born March 24, 1920 in Schaffer, MI to Emanuel and Leola (Patton) Daigneault. Mercedes graduated from Escanaba High School in 1937. After high school she moved to lower Michigan and spent the majority of her life in Algonac and Montague. For the last 10 years of her life she resided in Escanaba. Mercedes worked for a few years as a certified nursing aide at the old Bishop Noa Home caring for the elderly. She was also a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary in Montague.

3 Sons: Stephen F. (Mary Jane) DeMille of Lake Forest, California; Bruce Grugen of Algonac, Michigan; Richard Allen of Chesterfield, Michigan
2 Daughters: Lynn M. Cooper of Troy, Michigan; Cindy (Shawn) Wilson of Ocala, Florida
6 Grandchildren
4 Brothers: Robert F. Daigneault of Chandler, Arizona; John Daigneault of Escanaba; David (Carol) Daigneault of Hazel Park, Michigan; James (Ilene) Daigneault of Bark River
2 Sisters: Cecile Patrick of Escanaba; Lois (O’Neil) King of Escanaba
Numerous nieces and nephews
She is preceded in death by Her parents, 2 brothers, Izzy and Eugene Daigneault and her sister, Rita King
A Prayer Service for Mercedes will be Tuesday, March 13 at 1:30 PM in the chapel at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. Rev. Fr. Mike Steber will officiate. The Peterson family is being assisted by the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Homes of Delta County.
