Beverly Ann (Berg) Provo, age 76, passed away at her home in Soo Hill Thursday, March 8, 2007, following a brief illness.
Beverly was born November 26, 1930, in Escanaba, the daughter of Ernest and Helen (Webber) Berg. Her father died when she was a young child and her mother remarried her stepfather James Krutina. She grew up in Nahma graduating from Nahma High School. She married Donald E. Provo March 24, 1951, and together the couple had four children. Throughout her marriage, Beverly worked as a homemaker and when her husband Donald died in 1978, she attended Bay de Noc Community College where she earned her Associate Degree in Accounting. She continued her working career at the Daily Press as a bookkeeper until her retirement.
Beverly enjoyed attending Player’s de Noc Productions, traveling on casino trips with her sister Frances, and playing cards with special friends Violet Sargent, and Karen and Marge Wierschem. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Beverly was a member of the Rapid River and Escanaba Senior Centers and the Gladstone American Legion Post #71. In her earlier years, Bev belonged to the St. Andrews Church in Nahma and was Catholic by faith.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Helen Berg, stepfather James Krutina, sister Carol Sturdy, brother, George Krutina and two grandsons Danny Meenen and Lyle Thomas.
Beverly is survived by her four children: Lyle (Karen) Provo, Milwaukee, WI; Linda Meenen, Tomahawk, WI; Christine (Patrick) Pepin, Escanaba, MI; and Donna (Marty) Montagna, Redding, CA. She is also survived by her sister, Frances; brothers, Richard (Jackie) Krutina, Soo Hill, MI; James (Marsha) Krutina, Milwaukee, WI; and Tom (Renee) Krutina, Grafton, WI. Also among the surviving family are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and special friends Joe and Hazel Sauve, Grand Rapids, MI.
The family of Beverly Provo will receive friends on Tuesday from 2:00PM to 6:00PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Beverly Ann Provo will follow visitation, at 6:00PM, at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home, with Sister Dyonne Finn SSND Bereavement Coordinator for Marquette General Home Hospice Care officiating. Luncheon will follow funeral services at the Escanaba Senior Center located inside the Escanaba Civic Center. Bev will be laid to rest next to her husband Donald at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Provo family with arrangements.
