Marvin C. Swift, age 88, of 1401 North 23rd Street, Lot #102; Escanaba, died Monday afternoon, April 30th, 2007, at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers where he was a patient since December of 2006. Marvin was born March 23rd, 1919 in St. Jacques, the son of Archie and Henrietta (Zimmerman) Swift, was raised in Gladstone and attended the Gladstone School System.

After residing in the Dearborn, Michigan area, he married the former Jeanette M. Guindon in Detroit in 1941.

In 1951, he and family relocated to California from Flint, Michigan. From 1954 to 2001, he lived in Texas until returning to Delta County in 2001.

Marvin was employed in truck-driving for a number of years, and in 1959 he started his own business, “Swift Redwood Playhouses” which he continued working in for the rest of his working life.

After his return to Delta County, he became a member of the “Senior Volunteer Program”.

2 Daughters-Carolyn (Charles) Burgin of Elmo, Texas; Patricia (William “Bill”) Rickets of Edgewood, Texas

7 Grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Jeanette, he was preceded in death by a son, Lester; two brothers, Stanley and Lawrence; and by three sisters, Edna Henkins, Albina Smith, and Florence Swift.

The family of Marvin C. Swift will receive friends on Thursday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Services celebrating Marvin’s life will follow on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Roe of the Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Marvins’ remains will be sent to Texas. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Swift family.
