Dorothy Marcella Anderson, age 89, passed away Monday, May 28, 2007 at the Pinecrest Medical Care facility in Powers where she had been a resident for the past few years.
 
Dorothy was born July 2, 1917 in Wallace, Michigan to Theodore and Mary (Christensen) Wallenslager. She married Darwood T. Anderson on June 28, 1941 in Wallace. Shortly after their marriage Dorothy and Darwood moved to the Escanaba area where she worked as a housekeeper at St. Francis Hospital for several years and was a homemaker. She enjoyed making patchwork quilts, homemade greeting cards out of wallpaper books, homemade beans, bread and Christmas bread.  Dorothy’s family was always important in her life. She especially liked Beanie Baby hunting with her granddaughter Patty and fishing with her great grandson Josh. She also enjoyed Lawrence Welk, country music and collecting angels.
 
Dorothy is survived by:

3 Daughters: Mary Lou Benton of Edmond, Oklahoma; Barbara Ann Kossow of Gladstone; Shirley Lee Johnson of Gladstone

1 Son: D. Thomas Anderson Jr. of Escanaba

Numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren

1 Sister: Vera Swanson of Gladstone
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a few grandchildren.
 
Dorothy’s family will receive friends on Thursday, May 31 from 2:00 to 3:00 at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Engelsman officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Fisherman’s Landing Church. Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Mellen Township Cemetery in Wallace. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dorothy’s family.
