Eileen Kunath

Eileen Marie Kunath, age 96, of 410 South 5th Street, Gladstone, died Tuesday May 29, 2007 at the Superior Health Haven Center in Munising.

Eileen was born March 22, 1912 at her family’s home in Loudspur Eben Jct., MI, the daughter of Herman and Hilda (Koistenen) Seppi. She was raised in Loudspur and attended the Eben school system. Following school, Eileen moved to Chicago where she met and married Gerhard K. Kunath on August 3, 1935. Together the couple made their home in Northbrook, IL where Eileen worked as a career woman in the bookkeeping department for Hart/Shafner/Marks Clothing Company. Following retirement, Eileen and Gerhard relocated to Gladstone where Eileen remained until her health began to fail, at which time, she moved to Munising, at the age of 95, to be closer to her loving family. Gerhard preceded Eileen in death on September 21, 1993. Eileen loved quilting, knitting, crocheting and tatting and was considered by her family to be an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and taking walks with her dog, Holly. She loved spending time with her family and was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone and the Eastern Star in the Chicago area. She will be deeply missed by her loving family.

Survivors include:

1 Sister: Martha Mickelson of Munising, MI

1 Sister in law: Alice (Jack) Trelford of Chatham, MI

Also surviving are numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Herman and Hilda and her husband Gerhard, Eileen was preceded in death by:

3 Sisters: Olga, Bertha and Cecilia

3 Brothers: Waino, Norman and Edwin

Family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Eileen Marie Kunath will follow visitation on Saturday, at 10:30AM, at the First Lutheran Church, with Rev. Jonathan Schmidt officiating. Luncheon will follow in the First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Committal will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham. The Kunath family respectfully request that memorial contributions in Eileen’s name be directed to the First Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available during visitation. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Kunath family with arrangements.
