Carl Ray Peterson, age 50, of Rock passed away of an apparent heart attack on Monday, May 14, 2007 while out in the woods picking morels, one of his favorite activities.
Carl was born October 10, 1956 in Ishpeming, MI the son of Alfred and Neita (Winters) Peterson and was a lifelong resident of the Rock area. He graduated from the Rock High School in 1974. After graduation he worked as a miner Cleveland Cliffs Iron (Tilden Mine’s) until he retired in December of 2006 after 31 years of service. Carl was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He loved a good game of horseshoes and the Green Bay Packers have lost their biggest fan. The love of his life was his family and he never missed an opportunity to love and be loved by them. Carl had a gift of making everyone feel special. No one stayed a stranger to Carl. With his big smile, contagious laugh, eternal optimism and favorite sayings, “Life is good”, “Ooftah”, and “Get-R-Dun, he always brought a smile and happiness to those around him.

His son: Will (Samantha) Peterson of Rock, MI
6 Grandchildren: Michael Ray Englund, Carl Peterson, Daisy Englund, Kennedy Englund, Zachary Carl Englund and Duane Englund
His brother: Jack Peterson of Owensville, KY
3 Sisters: Sharon Parkkila of Munising, MI; Anna Belle Artz of Columbus, OH; Kathy May Johnson of Rock, MI
His former wife, mother of his children and good friend, Faye Peterson
Numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-Joseph Leroy Peterson
The family of Carl Ray Peterson invite you to a Memorial Service celebrating his life on Friday, May 18 at 5:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Rev. Devon Barrix of the Faith Lutheran and Bethany Lutheran Churches will officiate. Carl’s family will receive friends on Friday from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the funeral home. Luncheon will be served at the Faith Lutheran Church in Rock at 6:30 PM.
