A.J. Johnson Jr.

Died June 18, 2007


A.J. Johnson Jr., 65, of Rapid River passed away from this earth Monday, June 18th surrounded by his family at his son John’s home in Rapid River . A.J. was born February 12th 1942 in Fostoria Michigan the son of A.J. and Estella Johnson. He and his wife, Janet (Moore), were married January 22nd 1958.

A.J. was a hard working man who cared very much for his family. Anyone who knew A.J. was a friend. His soft demeanor and patience will be sadly missed. He was a man willing to help wherever there was need. A.J. spent his life working and providing for his family as a truck driver, which he was very proud of. A.J. enjoyed traveling with his wife. He also loved playing with his grandchildren and spending time outdoors. A.J. was a man you could always find tinkering in his shop. His faith in God made his transition easier as he comforted his loved ones with his courage and lack of fear.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Janet

Sons: Randy (Merry) Johnson of Rapid River; Mark (Mary) Johnson of Lovington, New Mexico ; Brian (Alison) Johnson of St. Jacques; Troy (Twyla) Johnson of Rapid River; A.J.III “John” (Shari) Johnson of Rapid River; Jim (Heather) of Rapid River

Daughter Shanell (Brandon) Bennett of Flint, Michigan.

His mother, Estella Johnson of Fostoria Michigan .

Brother Floyd “Skip” (Joanie) Johnson of Mayville, Michigan , and Sister, Cheryl (Rod) Corkins of Fostoria , Michigan .

His grandchildren, Chris, Sawyer, Mark, Amanda, Amy, Steve, Brian Jr., Alecia, Dan, ‘lil Randy, Stephen, David, Joshua, Joanna, Andrea, Deric, A.J. IV “Adam”, Sarah, Emily, Carter, Mason, Dominik, and Shandon.

Great grandchildren Jarrett, Hayden, and Avery. As well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Father HYPERLINK "http://A.J.Sr" \t "_blank" A.J. Sr , Brother Elvin “Daffer”, and three son’s Steve, Randy Rae, and Johnny Jr. as well as his grandchildren Mark and Anna.

A.J.’s family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of A.J. Johnson Jr. will be held on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at the Grace Baptist Church in Gladstone with Rev. Kevin McIlhany officiating. Burial will follow at the Rapid River Cemetery in Rapid River. A luncheon will follow committal services at the Grace Baptist Church in Gladstone.
