Mildred Naylor

Mildred J. "Mickey" Naylor, age 87, of 1623 Wisconsin Avenue, Gladstone, died early Tuesday morning July 3, 2007 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.

Mickey was born June 28, 1920, in Gladstone, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Anderson) Menard. She was raised in Gladstone and attended the Gladstone school system. On August 15, 1940, Mickey married Clarence Edwin Naylor and together the couple eventually made their home at 209 South 16th Street, Gladstone where they raised their only son Dennis. Clarence preceded Mickey in death on September 4, 1989. In her earlier years, Mickey was employed as a factory worker, in Detroit, during WWII . Upon returning to Gladstone, Mickey went to work, for her brother in law, at the Swallow Inn Tavern in Rapid River and later retired from the Pioneer Motor Inn, where she worked in the housekeeping department. Mickey was a member of the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary of Gladstone. She loved playing bingo, camping and traveling, ice fishing, dancing and crocheting.

Mickey leaves to survive:

1 Son: Dennis (Lu) Naylor

3 Grandchildren: Daniel Naylor; Michael (Tammy) Naylor; April Llewellyn

5 Great Grandchildren: Kayla Mathias, Kristin Naylor, Jordan Naylor, Eden Hobman
Kody Naylor

Nieces and Nephews: John (Pam) VanMill, Larry (Kaye) VanMill, Patsy (Gene) Specht, Beverly (Rex) Plummer

Goddaughters: Kay (Ron) Deault, Patti (Ken) Proehl

Also listed among the surviving family are many loving great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Edward and Mary, and her husband, Clarence, Mickey was preceded in death by:

The Naylor family will receive friends on Monday July 9, 2007, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Mickey Naylor will follow visitation, at 6:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, with Rev. William Rafuse of the Congregational Church of Rapid River officiating. Luncheon will follow funeral services. Committal will be in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum. The Naylor family respectfully requests that memorial contributions in Mickey’s name be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. The Skradski Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Naylor family with arrangements.
