Sharon L. Reese, age 62, of 12645 Old M-35, died Friday morning July 27, 2007, at her home in Rock following a courageous battle with multiple illnesses.
Sharon was born January 8, 1945, in Escanaba, the daughter of Roy and Clarice (Norden) Ackerman. Following her father’s discharge from the military, Sharon’s family relocated to Waukegan, IL where Sharon attended and graduated from the Zion-Benton High School. Following high school, Sharon moved to Springfield , IL and eventually gained employment at Camp Butler National Cemetery. She remained in Springfield until the mid 1970’s, at which time, Sharon returned to Rock and accepted a position at K.I Sawyer Airforce Base. In her early thirties, Sharon decided to continue her education by enrolling at Northern Michigan University, in Marquette, where she received her Bachelor Degree in High School Business. In 1984, Sharon continued on to teach, for the next 16 years, for the State of Michigan, with the Mackinac Island School System, finally retiring in 2000.
Sharon was a dedicated member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Rock and past council President of her church. She belonged to the Rock Senior Center and Rock Red Hat Society. Sharon enjoyed reading, visiting with friends, spending time with family and going to ceramics. She enjoyed gardening and loved planting flowers. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

1 Son: Jeremy Reese of Rock, MI
1 Nephew: Michael Kemp of Springfield, IL
Many loving cousins and friends.
Her parents, Roy and Clarice and her sister, Della Kemp, preceded Sharon in death.
Sharon’s family will receive friends on Wednesday August 1, 2007 from 12:00PM to 3:00PM at the Faith Lutheran Church in Rock. Funeral services celebrating the life of Sharon L. Reese will follow visitation, at 3:00PM, at the Faith Lutheran Church, with Rev. Devon Barrix officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Committal will be in the Perkins Cemetery. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Reese family with arrangements.
