Ernest E. “Ernie” Branstrom, age 86, of 5147 Beaver Lane; Rock (Baldwin Twp.), died Thursday morning, August 30st, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

Born in St. Nicholas, Michigan on March 10th, 1921, the son of Charles and Alma (Kossow) Branstrom, Ernie was a life-long Perkins, Rock, and St. Nicholas area resident.

He was united in marriage to the former Agatha Fournier on September 30th, 1950 at St. Joseph Church in Perkins. Both Ernest and Agatha have been long-time members of the church.

Ernest worked in the woods as a lumberman, and as a member of the Operating Engineers #324 for 20 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling before his illness. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and time spent with his grandchildren was especially important to him. Playing cards and traveling, were among some past-times he like to do as well.

In addition to his loving wife of 57 years, Agatha, Ernest Branstrom’s survivors include:

1 Sister- Bertha “Betty” DeBaker of Watson

9 Grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charles and Alma Branstrom, Ernie was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Carl, Albert, and Arthur Branstrom. A grand-daughter, Erin Maki, also preceded him in death.

The family of Ernest E. Branstrom will receive friends on Monday at St. Joseph Church in Perkins from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5:00 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Luncheon will follow service in the St. Joseph Parish Hall. Burial will be in the Perkins Cemetery.
