George M. Edwardsen, age 73, of 10571 North Main Street, Rapid River, died Tuesday morning August 7, 2007 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
George was born November 25, 1933, in L’anse, MI, the son of Morgan and Evelyn (Larmay) Edwardsen. George was raised in L’anse and attended the L’anse High School before relocating to Rhinelander, WI where he completed the last two years of his education at the Rhinelander High School. Following high school, George enlisted in the United States Airforce, serving during the Korean War Conflict, from 1952 to 1958 at the Lackland Airforce Base in Texas. George then returned to Skanee, MI, where on July 4, 1959, he married the former Margaret Sands at the Sacred Heart Church, in L’anse, eventually relocating in 1962 to Rapid River where they made their home and raised their family. Throughout his life, George worked as a salesman and in his later years as a chef at the Gladstone Golf Club. He was a member of the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post #71 and the Gladstone Men’s Pool League. George loved fishing, hunting and cooking wild game for family and friends.

1 Brother in Law: Charles Mink of L'Anse, MI
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Evelyn and two sisters, Ann Mink and Shelly Edwardsen.
Memorial graveside services celebrating the life of George M. Edwardsen have been scheduled for Saturday, August 18, 2007, at 2:00PM, at the Skanee Cemetery, in Skanee, MI, near L’anse, with Judy Mattson of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Edwardsen family with arrangements.
