Dorothy Skradski

Dorothy J. Skradski, age 74, of 1113 Sheridan Road, Escanaba, died peacefully Thursday, August 9, 2007, at the Bishop Noa Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born July 15, 1933, in Escanaba, the daughter of Alex and Hilma (Buckland) Derouin. She was raised in Cornell and was a 1951 graduate of the Escanaba Senior High School. On May 2, 1953, Dorothy was joined in marriage to Emil "Emery" Skradski, at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Escanaba. She lived most of her life in Escanaba and together, Dorothy and Emery made their home and raised their family on the North side of Escanaba, commonly known as Northtown. Throughout her life, Dorothy worked primarily as a homemaker and in earlier years for Gust Asp and Viau’s Market, in Escanaba. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with grandchildren, great grandchildren and family.

Dale "Punchie" (Merri) Derouin of Escanaba, MI
Gary "Porky" (Sue) Derouin of Bark River, MI

3 Sisters: Lois (Rocky Miron) Dupey of Escanaba, MI
Carol Kutches of Escanaba, MI
Barbara (Jeff) Derouin of Rockford, IL

1 Sister-in-law: Mary Ann Derouin

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Skradski Family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00PM to 5:30PM, at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Dorothy J. Skradski, will follow visitation, at 6:00PM, at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Luncheon will follow in the St. Thomas Parish Hall. Committal services have been scheduled for Tuesday, at 10:30AM, at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Escanaba. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Skradski family with arrangements.
