Stephanie "Sally" (Mauhar) Lapuszewski, age 86, of Traverse City (formerly of Ensign) died Wednesday afternoon September 12, 2007 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City following a lengthy illness.
Sally was born November 28, 1920 in Ensign Township to John and Slava (Stimac) Mauhar. She was raised in Ensign but left at the age of 18 to Lower Michigan where she resided in Detroit, Mancelona and Traverse City. She was united in marriage to Walter Lapuszewskion April 18, 1942. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Mancelona where they had Christmas tree farms for many years. She loved to play cards, the outdoors, mushroom hunting, traveling, walking and gardening. She also enjoyed Country Western and Polka music and was an avid member of the Warren Polka Boosters. Sally was a very social, caring and loyal person with a spunky personality. She was giving of herself and her time. She always had a big smile on her face, a twinkle in her eyes and jumped into life with both feet.

2 Brothers: Emil "Ed" Mauhar of Rapid River; William Mauhar of Gladstone
5 Grandchildren: Christopher (Ann) Maciejewski; Lori (Todd) Zeise; Jeffrey (Jeannie) Maciejewski; Hope (John) Sleeman; Keith Grabowski

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Walter on October 25, 1971 and her son Larry on June 22, 2004.
Sally’s family will receive friends on Sunday, September 16 from 2:00 PM to 4:45PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Rosary will be recited at 4:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 17 at 11:00 AM at the St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church in Rapid River with Rev. Father Jacek Wtyklo officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow Mass in the Parish Fellowship Hall. Interment will be at 1:30 in Rapid River Cemetery.
