Kenneth F. Tryan

Kenneth F. Tryan, age 87, of 5169 County 420 21st Road; Gladstone (Carrolls Corners area of Escanaba Township), died Saturday, October 13th, 2007, at the home of his son in the Harvey area of Marquette County following a lengthy illness.

Ken was born October 1st, 1920 in Escanaba, the son of Fred and Clara (Antwine) Tryan and was raised in the Ford River area. During World War II, he honorably served his county with the U.S. Army in the European Theater.

Ken married the former June Weissert on June 8th, 1946 in Ford River and they relocated to Ukiah, California in 1954 and they resided there until 1971when they moved back to Ford River. Upon their return to Delta County, Ken and June established "Tryan´s House of Flowers" on M-35 and they owned and operated their garden center until 1986. Ken and June moved to "Carrolls Corners" in 1981 and June passed away November 28th, 1999.

Ken was an avid hunter and particularly enjoyed deer and bird hunting. In addition to working with flowers, trees, and shrubbery in his professional life, Ken was known by family and friends to also enjoy his flowers and fruit trees at home. He was a member of St. Anne Church of Escanaba.

6 Sons: Kenneth (Karen) Tryan of Escanaba; Gilbert (Linda) Tryan of Gladstone; Rickey (Terri) Tryan of Marquette; David (Georgia) Tryan of Burney, California; Randy (Donna) Tryan of Harvey, MI; Dennis Tryan of Harvey, MI

2 Brothers: Fredrick (Marcella) Tryan of Perkins; James (Bonnie) Tryan of Ford River

4 Sisters; Eileen Burklund of Escanaba; Betty (Alvin) Williams of Ford River; Gladys Truman of Illinois; Clara Anne (Jim) Johnson of Illinois

16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, June, Ken was preceded in death by a son; Tedwin K. Tryan, three brothers; Earl, Robert, and Lewis Tryan, and by one sister; Margaret King.

The family of Kenneth F. Tryan will receive friends on Tuesday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with Military Rites being conducted at 5:30 p.m. by the Delta County Veterans Council. Services celebrating the life of Kenneth Tryan will follow on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Mike Steber of St. Anne Church of Escanaba officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery; Escanaba.
