Gerald “Jerry” Dibling, age 81, of Rapid River, MI passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
Jerry was born June 4, 1926 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Leo and Alta (Nieset) Dibling. He was united in marriage to Beryl “Meme” Gowanlock on November 1, 1969 in Detroit. Jerry served his country proudly from June 1, 1944 until June 5, 1946 in the United States Navy during World War II. He was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal and the Victory Medal. Following Jerry’s military service he spent four years at the Rets Technical College. After college Jerry became self employed as an electronic technician fixing pinball machines, coin operated machines and many other electronic devices. Jerry was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 301 in Rapid River. He was also Catholic by faith and enjoyed watching animals, especially his dogs, and working on his home in Rapid River. He also loved roses and the color pink. Most dear to Jerry was his family and the time they spent together, especially the 38 years he was united with his wife.

According to family wishes Jerry will be creamted and a private graveside service will be held at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
