Virginia Regina Johnson, age 96, of Escanaba passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.
Virginia was born August 31, 1911 in Chicago to John J. and Rose (Sclengowski) Ciecierski. She was united in marriage to John J. Johnson on September 1, 1934 in Chicago. They enjoyed 65 wonderful years together. Later in their lives Virginia and John became residents of the Crystal Falls area and then moved to the Escanaba area for their remainder years. They enjoyed traveling and visiting family in the Upper Peninsula, Chicago and Georgia. Virginia was a Catholic in faith and was a longtime member of the St. Joseph and St. Patrick Churches of Escanaba. Virginia enjoyed being a resident at the Harbor Tower for several years and loved craftwork such as embroidery and ceramics. Virginia’s greatest joy came from her family, especially spending time with her numerous grand, great grand and great-great-grandchildren.

Her daughter: Marlene (Andrew L.) Gavlek of Escanaba
7 Grandchildren: Andrew J. (Mary), Diane, Tom, Cathy, Nancy (William) Cary (David) and John

The Johnson family will receive friends on Saturday, December 22 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph/ St. Patrick Parish in Escanaba with Rev. Father Eric Olson officiating. Virginia will be laid to rest at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
