Joan W. Lambert, 83, of 8455 P.5 Road, Gladstone, died Saturday morning December 15, 2007 at her residence in Gladstone following a brief illness.
Joan was born July 13, 1924 in Goodman, WI the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Cahee) Hendricks. She was raised in Goodman and was a 1942 graduate of the Goodman High School. Following graduation she moved to Milwaukee where she worked for the AT&T Phone Company. Joan was united in marriage to Kenneth Lambert on May 17, 1947 in Goodman. They made their home in L’Anse until 1966, when they relocated to Gladstone.
Joan was employed with the Eaton Corporation, in Gladstone for over 20 years. Following her retirement from Eaton’s, she worked in the RSVP Program and later the Foster Grandparent Program at Cameron Elementary School in Gladstone, totaling over 15 years in the special education room until four weeks ago when she became ill. Most of her years at Cameron were in the classroom of Mary Poma whom Joan formed a mutual bond with and grew to love very much.
Joan was a faithful member of the All Saints Church in Gladstone, serving on the funeral committee and the parish council. She was also a member of the Hearts of Praise prayer group and Bishop Baraga Association. She loved to fish-whether it was on the water or the ice, and she was very good at it. Joan enjoyed bowling and had bowled for over 60 years, earning many trophies and awards. She was an avid Green Bay Packer and NASCAR fan, and especially enjoyed following Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Sr. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, reading, and working crossword puzzles. She treasured working in her garden and watching the birds and deer. Joan’s family was the center of her life and she was to them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

3 sons: Don (Dr. Linda Bunno) Lambert of Rapid River; Dave (Diane) Lambert of Gladstone; Dan (Mary Jo) Lambert of Gladstone
1 daughter: Doris (Dick) Newhouse of Gladstone
1 sister: Judy Monte of Laona, WI
4 grandchildren: Christy (Dave) Nelson of Cornell, Michael (Angie) Casey of Rapid River, Jeff (Darcy Lux) Newhouse of Redgranite, WI, and Emma Lambert of Rapid River
6 great grandchildren: Christopher, Tyler and Nathan Nelson, Michael and Hannah Casey, and Aleshia Boye.
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her dear friend Berta Maki.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ken, on August 5, 1999, and 3 brothers and their wives, Louis (Martha), Clarence (Cora) and Pat (Dot) Hendricks; daughter-in-law, Jessica Lambert on December 30, 2003; and brother-in-law, Roland Monte.
Joan’s family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:30 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, prayers will follow before leaving for Mass. Mass of Christian Burial Services celebrating the life of Joan W. Lambert will follow at 6:00 PM at the All Saints Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Arnold Grambow officiating. Luncheon will follow services in the All Saints Church Parish Hall. Burial will take place on Thursday at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. Memorials may be directed to the All Saints Church Elevator Fund or the Foster Grandparent Program.
