Mary Lippens

Died December 3, 2007

Mary A. Lippens, age 93, of 6060 21.9 Lane; Gladstone (Escanaba Twp.) died Monday evening, December 3rd, 2007 at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba where she was a patient for almost five years.

Mary was born the daughter of George and Hanna Mae (Adair) Leach in Gould City, Michigan and was raised in the Flat Rock area of Delta County  where she resided much of her life.

After her marriage to Harold A. Kegel in 1938, she relocated to Milwaukee and was employed for J.C. Penney & Co. in retail sales for many years. After their retirement, Harold and Mary returned to Delta County, settling in Lathrop. Harold died November 28th, 1967 and she subsequently moved to Gladstone. Mary was later married to John Onto and he preceded her in death.

On January 30th, 1982, Mary was united in marriage to Bennie A. “Ben” Lippens and he survives. Mary Lippens is a member of All Saints Church of Gladstone and her family was a great source of enjoyment for her. In her leisure, she also enjoyed gaming at the local casino.

In addition to her devoted and loving husband, Ben, Mary’s survivors include:

3 Sons: Steve (Sherrie) Lippens of Gladstone; Tom (Beverly) Lippens of Rock; Jim (Bonnie) Lippens of Escanaba

2 Daughters: Sharon (Jerry) Maki of Rock; Vicki (Tony) Demeuse of Howell, MI

a son-in-law: Don Radlein of Rolling Meadows, Ill.

1 Brother- Fred (Rose) Leach of Lathrop

2 Sisters- “Vi” Fosterling of Gwinn; Ruth Arnette of Adrian, MI

11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Radlein, on July 13th, 2006.

In addition, she was preceded in death by six brothers; Percy, Ted, George, Cely, Jim, and John Leach and by three sisters; Ella Swain, Eva King, and Grace Polen.

The family of Mary A. Lippens will receive friends on Saturday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints Church with Rev. Fr. Arnold Grambow officiating. Luncheon will follow service at the All Saints Church Parish Hall. Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery. The family respectfully requests memorials, in lieu of flowers, be directed to the “All Saints Church Elevator Fund”. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County who are assisting the Lippens family.
