Joseph Wolfe

Joseph U. Wolfe II, age 83, of Gladstone went peacefully to his heavenly home on Friday, January 4, 2008 surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born May 25, 1924 in Ensign, MI to Joseph and Pauline (Stemac) Wolfe. He was raised on a farm, graduated from Rapid River High School and attended Northern Michigan University. Throughout his life he was a milkman, dairy worker, insurance salesman and courier. He enjoyed cutting wood, gardening, spending time with his family and attending the Grace Baptist Church in Gladstone. He was an avid sports fan, former President of the Gladstone Braves Fan Club and attended lots of his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy and Marine Corp during World War II as a medic and was a former Commander of the American Legion Post 71 in Gladstone.

Joe was a man of great faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It was evident in his daily walk. He always gave more than he had and never asked for anything in return.

His memory will be cherished in the hearts of his children: Carla (Butch) Irving, Paula (Steve Terrien) Sanville, Christa (Tony) Klarich, Sara (Brent Belanger) Kofsky, Trina (Jerry) Brunette, Johanna (Jerry) Dehl, Rebecca (Randy) Deneau, Greta (Will) Pouliot, Lance (Deborah) Wolfe and Joseph (Carol) Wolfe. He is also survived by his former wife, Carol Wolfe; his grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Anderson, Tammy (Tom) Wetthuhn, Andrea (Joe) Clark, Steve (Sarah) Sanville, Lacy (Jason Roberts) Maulding, Lukas Maulding, Amanda (Jesse) Klarich, Anna Kofsky, Tess Kofsky, Alex Kofsky, Brandon and Brianna Belanger, Victoria Brunette, Andrew (Christine) Brunette, Rebecca (John) Messer, Harrison Dehl, Rachel (Andy) Miron, Jenny Pare, Raymond Pare, Tamara Pouliot, Sam Pouliot, David, Katelyn, Jessica and Ryan Wood, Erin Wolfe, Jordan, Janie and Joey Wolfe and Josh (Jamey) Fisher; great grandchildren, Trey, Brooke, Olivia, Aleyna, Alexa, Camryn, Cale, Makayla, Allissa, Chasey, Brayden, Paityn, Cassie, Halley, Ariah and Devin and a great granddaughter on the way; his brothers, Blash, Victor, Milan and John; his sisters, Helen and Mary and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert and Peter.

The Wolfe family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 8 from 4:00 PM to 6:15 PM at the Grace Baptist Church in Gladstone. Military Honors will be presented at 6:15 PM by the American Legion Post 71 of Gladstone. Memorial Services will follow at 6:30 PM with Pastor Dr. Stephen Patrick officiating. A luncheon will be served at the church during the visitation and immediately following services. The Wolfe family is being assisted by the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.
