Mary Ann Meyer, age 78, of 8144 Twenty Third Lane, Rapid River, died Thursday afternoon February 7, 2008 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba where she was a patient.
Mary Ann was born June 10, 1929 in Escanaba the daughter of Peter and Anne (Lasnoski) O’Donnell. She was raised in Escanaba and she graduated from the Escanaba High School. Following graduation, Mary Ann worked for the City Drug Store and Montgomery Wards.
Mary Ann was united in marriage on July 23, 1949 in Escanaba to Arthur Meyer and together they made their home in Gladstone where they raised their four children. Art and Mary Ann owned and operated the Art Meyer’s Service Station in Gladstone until 1978 when they sold their business to their son Steve. Following their retirement they have resided at their current location in Stonington.
Mary Ann was an active member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Rapid River. For many years she helped with the annual pasty sale. Mary Ann enjoyed along with her husband Art, working in their flower garden, doing landscaping and yard work. She treasured spending time boating and fishing. Mary Ann painted many paintings and she was an excellent seamstress. She bowled for many years and she was a member of the Gladstone Child’s Welfare Club. She also enjoyed snowmobiling.
In addition to her husband of 58 years, Art, survivors include;
3 sons: Stephen (Barbara) Meyer of Kipling; Peter Meyer of Cornell; Gerald (Patti) Meyer of Somerset, WI
1 daughter; Kathryn (James) Cole of Gladstone
1 brother; Harold O’Donnell of Chippewa Falls, WI
10 grandchildren; Jeremy (Jackie) Meyer, Angie Meyer, Jessie Meyer, Michael Meyer, Katie Phalen, Kari (Steve) Gagnon, Scot Gabriel, Patti (Ryan) Stevenson and Tom (Carla) Meyer.
8 Great Grandchildren: Jersie Meyer, Daisy Meyer, Dominic Meyer, Brandley and Brendon Gagnon, Alicia Gabriel, Mathew and Alicia Meyer.

Private funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Ann Meyer will be held on Monday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo of the St. Charles Church officiating. Public visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Public visitation will end with a closing prayer. A luncheon will follow at the Gladstone Yacht Club. Burial will be at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.
