Joy Roberts went to live forever in peace with the Lord, February 24, 2008.
Joy, or “Joy to the World” as she would introduce herself as, was born September 11, 1932 in Escanaba to Roy and Doris (DeCare) Goldberg. She graduated in 1950 from Escanaba High School and went on to college to become an LPN.
She worked for St. Francis Hospital in the nursery and surgery departments for 18 years, and then she provided private duty caring for people in their homes.
Our mom was also employed for 28 years for the John Lemmer School in Escanaba as a noon hour supervisor.
Our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother will be greatly missed by so many as she touched so many throughout her life.
Joy enjoyed shopping, always finding unique gifts for us all, and also going out to eat with special friends, Kathy and Marlene. She remained good friends with her neighbor, Del, all her life, and she enjoyed bringing her goodies and just to chat for a while.
Joy was currently a Senior Companion, something she truly enjoyed. Helping others has always been her calling. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church in Escanaba.
Joy is survived by;
1 daughter: Renelle (Paul) Beauchamp of Escanaba
2 sons: Mark (Elizabeth) Roberts of Escanaba, Steve Corbett of Escanaba
4 grandchildren: Nicky Corbett, Nicholas Roberts, Sara and Shawn Beauchamp
1 great grandchild; Levi McCarty all of Escanaba
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas (Tommy) Corbett.
Joy’s family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 to 5:30 PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial Services celebrating the life of Joy Roberts will follow at 6:00 PM at the St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba with Rev. Fr. Fran DeGroot officiating. Luncheon will follow in the St. Anne Parish Hall. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba.
