Nadine Jo Brown, age 53, of 314 N. 11th Street in Escanaba passed away suddenly at her home on Sunday, March 16, 2008.
 
Nadine was born August 18, 1954 in Clarksburg, West Virginia to Joseph and Mary Jane (Riley) Funkhouser. She grew up in Cowen, West Virginia and was a 1973 graduate of Cowen High School. She has been a resident of the Escanaba area for the past 13 years. Nadine was a caring and compassionate person and welcomed anybody into her home. She had an open door policy. She was a mother to many of her “adopted kids” from the neighborhood as well as her own two daughters. The kids referred to her house as the “Popsicle House”. She will be dearly missed by all. Nadine also enjoyed hand held games and sitting on her porch and watching and feeding the birds.

Grandson: Alex Bardwell
Granddaughter: Nevaeh Brown
1 Brother: Mike Funkhouser of Florida
2 Sisters: Rebecca Barnett of Texas, Leian Branham of West Virginia
Best Friend: Helen Beardmore of Iowa who was like a sister
 
Nadine’s family will receive friends on Friday, March 21 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Arthur Kievet officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family and directed to the funeral home.
