Betty Jane (Russell) Dahl, age 83 of 1002 North 15th Street, Gladstone, MI died Friday evening April 4, 2008 unexpectedly at the Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, MI.

Betty was born November 13, 1924 in Gladstone the daughter of Donald and Lela (Nicholas) Russell. She was raised in Gladstone and she graduated from the Gladstone High School, class of 1942.
Betty was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone and the Bowl-A-Rama Bowling League. In addition to bowling, Betty enjoyed working in her yard, going to the casino and socializing. She also enjoyed putting Jigsaw puzzles together, mowing her yard and working in her flower gardens.

Survivors include:

3 daughters: Betty Jane (David) Clayton of Ypsilanti, MI, Patricia Ann Lee of Escanaba, Glenda Marie (Michael) Beeck of Casa Grande, AZ

1 step-son; Gary Dahl of Escanaba

1 step daughter: Kathy Dahl of Escanaba

1 brother; Donald Russell of Melrose Park, IL

7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren

Numerous nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents, brothers, and sisters, she was preceded in death by her 3 husbands, Glen Thorbahn in 1963, Arvid Major in 1971 and Vernon Dahl in 1998.

Betty’s family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty Jane Dahl will follow at 5:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Schmidt of the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone officiating. A luncheon will follow services in the First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
