Edith D. Vermullen, age 74, of 6072 18.3 Road, Gladstone, died peacefully Saturday morning April 19, 2008, at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Edith was born May 18, 1933, in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Carl and Vera (Johnson) Anderson. She was raised in Los Angeles and attended and graduated from the Los Angeles school system. Following high school, Edith continued her education and received her college degree, in California. On December 19,1954, Edith married Charles “Chuck” Vermullen, in Palm Springs, CA, and together the couple made their home in Garden Grove, and later in Huntington Beach, CA. Edith was employed as a supervisor, for many years, for Rockwell International. Following her retirement from Rockwell International, Edith and Chuck relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, remaining in Las Vegas for the next 10 years. Chuck preceded Edith in death on September 26, 1999. Following Chuck’s death and in October of 2002, Edith moved to Delta County to be closer to her family. Edith enjoyed going on trips to the casino and in her earlier years she enjoyed working in the yard and gardening.

Daughter in law: Evi Vermullen, who resides in Germany
Mother in law: Mary Jane Vermullen of Escanaba, MI
Sister in law: Shirley (Johnny) Simmons of Gladstone, MI
Brother in law: Tom (Alice) Vermullen of Wells, MI
Also listed among the surviving family are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Carl and Vera and her husband Charles, Edith was preceded in death by her son, Charles Vermullen Jr. on June 15, 2006.
Committal prayers for Edith are scheduled for Tuesday, at 11:00AM, at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Escanaba. All are invited and welcome to attend. The Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home is in care of the Vermullen arrangements.
