Kathleen A. “Betty” Plourde, age 75, of 3668 Co. 426 24 Road, died Monday morning July 28, 2008 at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers where she had been a patient since Friday. 

Kathleen was born May 2, 1933 in Escanaba the daughter of Francis and Ruth (Wright) Boyer.  She was raised in Rapid River where she was a 1952 graduate of the Rapid River High School.

Kathleen was united in marriage on June 13, 1953 in Escanaba to Donald Plourde and they made their home in Gladstone until 1957.  They moved to their current location in 1957, in Cornell, where they raised their 5 children.

Kathleen’s hobbies included working in her garden and watching birds.  She especially enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, Donald, survivors include;

2 sons: Donald Plourde Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; Bruce (Lynn) Plourde of Cornell

3 daughters: Lynn (David) Carignan of Little Suamico, WI; Cindy (Roger) Labumbarb of Cornell; Laurie (Phil) Reynolds of Cornell

7 grandchildren: Joseph, Jill, Jennifer, Ryan, Adam, Kevin and Josh

7 great grandchildren: Cole, Drew, Lacey, Jack, Kaleb, Bobby and Brianna

Brother: Lee (Joyce) Boyer of Rapid River

Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and step father, Newt Wright, Kathleen was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Francis Short and Donna Mohair.

Private services will be held on Wednesday July 30, 2008 at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.
