Chris Stewart, age 78, a long time resident of Gladstone died on the 19th of July at St Francis Hospital as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage with her loving family at her bedside.
Chris was born in Milwaukee, WI. Nov. 1, 1929 and married Chuck Stewart November 1, 1952. Chris was employed at Badger Paint in Milwaukee, and after settling in Gladstone worked many years at the Delisle and Maulding Shoe Stores.
Survivors include her husband, daughter Mary, her husband Bill, son Craig, son Mark, a sister Terry, and step-father Jim Mendini, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a son Chuck, Jr. killed in the Vietnam War.
In season, Chris enjoyed picking strawberries, raspberries, and wild blue berries. She enjoyed many happy hours working around her flowers, working cross word puzzles, reading, and enjoying music on her large collection of CD’s. She also enjoyed many happy hours at their cottage in Alger Co. watching the Loon’s and other wildlife.
Chris bowled for many years and was an above average bowler, and a member of the Gladstone Yacht Club.
She had a huge collection of cook books. She was well known for her cooking and baking skills especially at Christmas with her dozens of Christmas cookies, and of her well known “Moca Cakes”.
Services for Chris will be Wed. July 23 with family receiving friends between 4 and 6 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.
The Right Rev. Gilbert Neuhror will conduct services for Chris at 6 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home.
Chris will be interred at the family plot at Fernwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Delta Area Animal Society. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral homes of Delta County who are assisting the Stewart family.
