Peter J. “Pete” Hillman, age 56, of 403 Wisconsin Avenue, died Sunday evening August 24, 2008 at home.
Peter was born July 30, 1952 in Escanaba the son of John “Jack” and Sally (Lippert) Hillman. Pete was raised in Grand Marais until the 9th grade when his family moved to Gladstone. Following graduation in 1970 from Gladstone High School, Pete worked for the Hanna Mining Company for several years. Pete was united in marriage on July 23, 1977 to the former Kathleen Kleiber at the All Saints Church in Gladstone. They made their home at their current location where they raised their son Tyler.
Pete learned the construction business following his employment at Hanna Mining and he eventually owned and operated with his wife and son, Hillman Homes and Improvement.
Pete was very active with youth sports and his hobbies included hunting, fishing and cutting wood. Pete always took pride in his construction work.

Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Peter J. Hillman will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Arnold Grambow of the All Saints Church officiating. Pete’s family will receive friends on Saturday following services at the Skradski Funeral Home until 2:00 PM. A luncheon will follow visitation at the First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Gladstone.
