Alvina J. “Vinie” Sinclair, age 95, of 609 North 9th Street; Gladstone, passed away on Friday evening, August 15th, 2008, at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba where she was a patient for only 2 two days.
On December 19th, 1912, Vinie was born to William and Amelia (Grandchamp) Smith and was a lifelong Gladstone resident and a lifelong member of All Saints Church. She married Adam Sinclair in 1932 and he preceded her in death in 1972.
Vinie’s presence in the old house on the Buckeye Hill will be sorely missed. At Vinie’s house there was always a cup of coffee, a good meal, and room for one more at the table. To those who moved away, coming home to Gladstone, was coming to Vinie’s house. There was always a card game, a lot of laughter, and you could dance in her kitchen. The stories told around the old table would fill volumes. She leaves them as her legacy to all of us.
