Stafford Robinson

Stafford Henry Robinson Sr, age 70, formerly of Gladstone, died Saturday September 20, 2008 at home in Pulaski.

Stafford was born November 29, 1937 in Gilcrest, MI the son of Daniel Henry and Vera Mae (Tupper) Robinson.  He was raised in Gladstone and he was a 1957 graduate of Gladstone High School.  Following graduation, he served his country in the U.S. Army until 1961, and he continued in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1964.  Stafford was united in marriage to the former Martha Brunette on December 28, 1957 in Gladstone and they made their home in Gladstone where they raised their seven children.

Stafford was employed for 30 years at the Harnischfeger Corporation in Escanaba until its closure.  They then moved to Green Bay where Stafford was employed for Lindquist Machines.

Stafford served two years on State Medical Care Facility Advisory Committee, Chairman of the Delta County D.S.S. Board for 4 years, Chair of the Pinecrest Board of Trustees for 2 years.  He was part of the original Board that established the 2 Whispering Pines and served as Chairman of this Board.  He formed the original steering committee that established the Delta County Trades and Labor Food Bank and he served as the  Community Services Officer for the U.A.W. for 15 years.  He also served as the Youth Services Coordinator for the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Stafford’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and gardening.

In addition to his wife of 50 years, Martha, survivors include:

4 sons: Stafford (Jessica) Robinson Jr. of Pulaski, WI; Richard (Julie) Robinson of Chaska, MN; Dwayne (Heidi) Robinson of Two Rivers, WI; Patrick (Cheri) Robinson of Green Bay, WI

3 daughters: Shirley (John) Roman of Brampton, MI; Kristine (Larry) Raspor of DePere, WI; Becky (Frank) Schinderle of Iron Mountain, MI

29 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren

4 brothers: Fred (Mary) Robinson of Gladstone; Raymond Robinson of Arkansas; Everette (Bonnie) Robinson of Gladstone; David (Linda) Robinson of Escanaba

6 sisters: Dorothy Drossert of Escanaba; Catherine Alexander of Gladstone; Linda Drossert of Gladstone; Almeda Bricker of Gladstone; Wanda (Rod) Wills of Gladstone; Brenda (Dennis) Chenier of Ohio

Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Clay and Edsel Robinson.

Stafford’s family will receive friends on Thursday September 25, 2008 from 4:00 to 6:45 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.  Gladstone American Legion Post #71 Military Rites will follow at 6:45 PM.  Funeral services celebrating the life of Stafford Robinson Sr. will follow at 7:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Arnold Grambow of All Saints Church officiating.
