Dorothy Irene Boden, age 73, of 723 Montana Avenue, Gladstone, died Wednesday morning November 26, 2008, at her son’s home in Rapid River, following a lengthy illness.

Dorothy was born August 5, 1935, in Escanaba, the daughter of Francis and Irene (Delvaux) Beauchamp. She was raised in Flat Rock and attended and graduated from the St. Joseph Catholic High School, class of 1953. On May 8, 1954, Dorothy was united in marriage to Lawrence Boden Sr. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock. Over the years, Dorothy and Lawrence made their home and raised their family in Gladstone. Lawrence preceded Dorothy in death on October 3, 1980. Dorothy worked and devoted many years of her life to St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Arch Diocese of Marquette. Her extensive involvement and faithful service to St. Anthony’s included working as a Pastoral Associate and Regional Coordinator of Natural Family Planning. In addition, Dorothy was the Director of Faith Formation, she belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters and volunteered many hours of her time as a reader and speaker at mass. Dorothy was member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wells. She belonged to the National Catholic Association Pro Life. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, knitting, traveling, playing golf in her earlier years and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

2 Brothers: Francis (Rose) Beauchamp of Flat Rock, MI; Ernest (Beverly) Beauchamp of Bark River, MI

Also surviving are 9 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her Father Francis in 1958, her Mother Irene in 1991, her Husband Lawrence Sr. In 1980 and her Daughter in law Kelly Ann Boden in 2004.
 
The Boden family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00PM to 7:00PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Vigil prayers will be conducted at 6:45PM, at the Skradski Funeral Home, by Rev. Fr. Rick Courier of the St. Thomas St. Anthony Parishes. Mass of Christian Burial Services, celebrating the life of Dorothy Irene Boden, will follow, on Monday at 10:00AM, at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Luncheon will follow in the St. Anthony Parish Hall. Committal services will follow luncheon at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. Contributions in Dorothy’s name may be directed to the St. Anthony Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski Funeral Home throughout Sunday’s visitation. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Boden family with arrangements.
