Rose M. Coplan, age 88, of 612 South 12th Street, Escanaba passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side, on Monday, November 10, 2008.
Rose was born August 31, 1920, the daughter of Antonio and Amelia (Zappa) Perrella in Keewatin, Minnesota. She was raised in Keewatin and graduated from Keewatin High School in 1938. On October 18, 1949 Rose was united in marriage to Maynard Coplan in Keewatin. Eventually Rose and Maynard moved to the Escanaba area where Rose became an active member of her community. She was a faithful catholic and longtime member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and the church choir. Rose was a member of the General Federation Womens Club, Players de Noc, and a social member of the Escanaba Country Club. She was also a Lady Elk with the Escanaba Elks Lodge #354 where she was a longtime contributor to the Special Needs Project helping needy children and the recipient of Outstanding Elk Auxiliary member of 2001-2002. Rose also enjoyed “Rosey Mondays” with the George and Marie Peterson, and “5:00 PM Toots” with the Nelsons, and visiting with all of her extended young friends. She also enjoyed needlepoint, reading, weeding her flowers, playing solitaire, socializing and being good to others. Her generous spirit will be missed all.

Her granddaughter: Heather (Chris) Kyte of Wauwatosa, WI
Special cousins: Ron and Sharon Klug, Harold and Stella Coplan, Judy and Paul Cohn, Barbara and Carl Soloman

Daughter-In-Law: Janet Coplan-Zeni of Iron Mountain, MI
Special Friends: Dick and Lois Nelson, George and Marie Peterson, Al and Marla Gossan, Priscilla LeGault, Linda Budkis, Terrie Belongie, and to all her loving caregivers and Marquette hospice team.
One of her greatest joys was her Grand Dogs: Lucky Joe and Jenna
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard, on November 30, 1993; her son, Joel, on September 22, 1998; her parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Rose's family will receive friends on Thursday, November 13 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will follow at 3:30 PM at the funeral home with Deacon Lew Vailliencourt officiating. In lieu of flowers Rose's wishes were to continue the Joel A. Coplan Scholarship Fund. Contributions can be made through Bay de Noc Community College. In honor of her best buddy grand dog, “Lucky Joe”, contributions may be made to the Delta Area Animal Society. Contributions can also be made to the Marquette General Home Health and Hospice.
