Paul Sundburg

Died November 9, 2008


Paul Andrew Sundberg, age 20, of Cornell and former Rapid River area resident, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Marquette General Hospital following an auto accident that occurred on Saturday on County Road 426 in Delta County.

Paul was born August 23, 1988 in Escanaba the son of Bruce and Lori (Nelson) Sundberg.  Paul was raised in Cornell and in later years Rapid River.  Paul attended Rapid River Public Schools where he participated in football, basketball, track and cross country.  Paul graduated in 2007.  While attending Rapid River, Paul received his Automotive Technology Degree from the I.S.D., he also was nominated for the Student of the Year Award by the I.S.D.

Following graduation, Paul was a mechanic for St. Jacques Transportation Services, and he was currently working for his grandparents, Marvin Nelson Forest Products, where he was a heavy equipment operator.

Paul was an excellent worker, a wonderful brother, and a very enjoyable person to be around.  His hobbies included four wheeling, snowmobiling and working.

Father: Bruce (Dawn) Sundberg of Ensign

Mother: Lori (Charles) Clark of Cornell

3 brothers: Nick Sundberg of Rapid River; Ryan Sundberg of Rapid River; Kyle Sundberg of Cornell

1 sister: Jen Sundberg of Cornell

Paternal grandparents: Lloyd (Rose) Sundberg of Gladstone

Maternal grandparents: Marvin and Donna Nelson of Cornell

Maternal great grandparents: Gilbert and Lorraine VanDrese of Wells, MI

Numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins

Paul was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Betty Sundberg in 1987.

Paul’s family will receive friends on Thursday November 13, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.  Funeral services celebrating the life of Paul A. Sundberg will follow on Thursday at 6:00 PM at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River with Rev. Stephen Gauger officiating.  Luncheon will follow services in the Calvary Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.  Burial will be in the Rapid River Cemetery.
