Perry Ayotte

Perry W. Ayotte, age 72, of 7437 26th Road, Rapid River, MI passed away Sunday morning December 14, 2008 at home surrounded by his family. His wife of 49 years, Bonnie, preceded him in death on November 17, 2008.

Perry was born July 22, 1936 in Escanaba the son of Wilford and Evelyn (Carlson) Ayotte and he was raised in Gladstone. Perry served his country in the U.S. Army for 3 years and the U.S. Air Force for 3 years.

Perry was united in marriage to the former Bonnie Smith on November 7, 1959 and they made their home in Rapid River for the past 42 years. His wife of 49 years, Bonnie, died on November 17th of this year.

Perry had worked for the Harnischfeger Corporation and he retired from Mead Paper Company. He also owned his small farm in Rapid River.

Perry attended Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. However, his family, especially his grandchildren, were a special source of enjoyment and comfort to him.

Perry is survived by;

1 son; Dan Ayotte of Rapid River

2 daughters; Mary Beth (Dennis) Helgemo of Gladstone; Linda Marie Ayotte of Rapid River

6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren

Several cousins

In addition to his parents and wife, Bonnie, Perry was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Booker.

Perry’s family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Perry W. Ayotte will follow at 6:00 PM with Rev. Stephen Gauger of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Calvary Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Rapid River Cemetery.
