Jean Kell

Died December 24, 2008


Jean Marie Kell, 79, of 1507 North 18th, passed away Wednesday evening December 24, 2008, at the Marquette General Hospital, in Marquette.
 
Jean was born February 26, 1929, in Escanaba, the daughter of Orville and Emily (Lundberg) Charland.  Jean was raised in Escanaba and attended and graduated from the Escanaba Senior High School, class of 1948.  On April 17, 1948, the former Jean Charland was united in marriage to Karl Kell, at the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, and together the couple made their home and began their family, in Escanaba.  Throughout her life, Jean worked primarily as a homemaker, raising her sons and daughters and keeping their family home.  Jean and Karl spent their entire married life on the North side of Escanaba.  She was a longtime member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.  Jean was very dedicated and passionate about her family.  She enjoyed spending time, with family, at their camp, spending time with her grandchildren, reading, cooking, playing cards and in her earlier years, swimming.  She will be deeply missed.    
 
In addition to her loving husband of 60 years, Karl, Jean is survived by:

2 Sons:  Randall (Sandy) Kell of Escanaba, MI; Rick (Cindy) Kell of Escanaba, MI

2 Daughters:  Maureen (Joe) Eichman of Omaha, Nebraska; Cindy (Todd) Steinmetz of Escanaba, MI

Grandchildren:  Lindsay Eichman, Amy (Steve) Kinsler, Brian, Dana and Kaitlyn Kell and Tim Steinmetz.
 
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Emily.  
 
The Kell family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba.  Funeral services celebrating the life of Jean Marie Kell will follow visitation, at 4:00PM, on Monday, at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba, with Rev. Peter Andersen of Christ the King Lutheran Church officiating.  Luncheon will follow at Christ the King Lutheran Church fellowship hall.  Committal will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.  The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Kell family with arrangements.
