Gerald “Jerry” Ayotte, age 69 of 3685 L.15 Lane in Escanaba passed away Sunday morning, March 1, 2009 at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.
Jerry was born July 9, 1939 in Detroit to Napoleon and Grace (Stang) Ayotte. Jerry worked for several years as a telephone repairman for Western Electric in the Detroit area. Jerry was united in marriage on November 22, 1973 to Barbara Bolda at St. Gerald’s Parish in Farmington, Michigan. Jerry and Barbara have spent the last 30 years living in Curtis and Escanaba. Jerry was a member of St. Anne’s Church as well as the men’s club at the church. Jerry loved old cars and owns a 1959 Cadillac. He enjoyed country western music and having coffee with the boys in Curtis and his best friend in Escanaba. When he was younger Jerry would cut the grass and do lawn maintenance for many of the widows in the neighborhood. He also loved Christmas and enjoyed decorating his home and the homes of neighbors as well. Jerry had a very generous heart.

1 Brother: Michael Ayotte of Venice, Florida
2 Nieces and 1 Nephew

He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother, Lillie Ayotte
Jerry’s family will receive friends on Thursday, March 5 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at St. Anne’s Church in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6:00 PM at the church with Rev. Fr. Fran DeGroot officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jerry’s name may be directed to the kitchen at St. Vincent DePaul.
