Arthur T. “Art” Jasmund, age 81, of 6369 South 2nd; Wells, (P.O. Box 102) passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 30th, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital with all his loved ones by his bedside.
Art was born June 14th, 1927 in downstate Mt. Clemens to Charles and Mina (Kraatz), and Art raised his family in that area until he moved to the Upper Peninsula in 1970. Art spent fifty years in the sales industry and even after his retirement in 1997, he still worked in the public relations field greeting thousands of people every day at his part-time jobs, including Escanaba Wal-Mart. He was active in the Gladstone Men’s Pool League as well as the Delta Men’s Pool League and won numerous awards and trophies for his excellent play. Art often irritated his opponents with his slow, calculating style of play. He was also a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan and was a member of the Escanaba Free Lutheran Church.
In addition to his beloved wife, Josephine “Josie”, Art Jasmund also leaves to survive:

Step-daughters; Jane (Eugene) Royer of Appleton, WI, Patricia (Clinton) Gressel of Indiana, and Roseann (Marvin) Hodgines of Mt. Clemens.
Numerous grandchildren, including Nicholas Ketcham, Samantha Clark, and Jason and Scott Jasmund, all of Escanaba and by four great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved first wife, the former Nellie Mae Porter, in 1998; by his youngest son, Michael, in 1993; and by his oldest son, John, in 2005. He was also preceded by four older brothers; Alvin Jasmund, Otto (Mae) Jasmund, Fred (Millie) Jasmund, and Carl Jasmund and by two older sisters; Noreen (Norman) Dedenback, and Hattie (Cliff) Lyman.
Services for Art Jasmund will be held Sunday, May 3 at 3:30 p.m. at the Escanaba Free Lutheran Church located at 502 S. 12th St., Escanaba, with Pastor Michael Cummings officiating. The Skradski-Boyce Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Jasmund family.
